Bernalillo County is making it easier for residents to keep their communities clean this spring! In partnership with the Ciudad Soil and Water Conservation District and the New Mexico Association of Counties, the county is offering Free Dumping Weekends and Spring Green Waste Days at the East Mountain Transfer Station, located at 711 Highway 333 in Tijeras.
These events are a great chance for residents to safely get rid of extra waste without paying any fees.
When Are the Free Dumping Weekends?
Bernalillo County residents who live outside the city limits can take advantage of free dumping on these dates:
- April 12-13
- May 17-18
- June 21-22
The station will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. during each Free Dumping Weekend. This is a great opportunity to clean up your yard, house, or property before the summer months.
What About Spring Green Waste Days?
After the Free Dumping Weekends, Spring Green Waste Days will run from April 21 through May 4.
During this special event, residents can drop off green waste like:
- Leaves
- Dead branches
- Brush and other plant material
Again, this service is free, but remember — all loads must be properly covered when transporting to the station to keep the roads safe and clean.
The Transfer Station will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day during Spring Green Waste Days.
Why Are These Events Important?
By offering free dumping and green waste disposal, Bernalillo County is helping residents properly manage their trash and yard waste. These efforts keep neighborhoods cleaner, protect the environment, and reduce fire hazards, especially with wildfire season around the corner.
These clean-up events are supported through a Que Linda beautification grant from the New Mexico Department of Transportation, which helps communities all across the state stay cleaner and greener.
Now is the perfect time for Bernalillo County residents to clean up their yards and properties!
