Bernalillo County Animal Care Services is calling on caring community members to volunteer for their upcoming spay and neuter clinic happening on April 25, 26, and 27. This important event offers free spay and neuter surgeries for qualified pet owners and plays a big role in reducing the number of stray and homeless animals in our community.

How Volunteers Will Help

There are several different volunteer positions available, and no special experience is needed. Anyone 18 years or older can apply!

Here’s how you can get involved:

Setup Volunteers (Thursday, April 24):
Help get the clinic ready by setting up kennels and preparing the space for animals and staff.

Transport Volunteers:
Assist with safely moving animals between different areas during the clinic.

Recovery Volunteers:
Carefully watch over pets after their surgeries, making sure they wake up safely and comfortably.

Data Entry Volunteers:
Help the team by entering important information about the animals and their treatments.

Instrument Volunteers:
Support the medical team by cleaning, organizing, and preparing surgical tools.

Kennel Techs:
Care for pets after surgery by cleaning kennels, monitoring animals, and making sure they are safe and comfortable.

Who Can Volunteer?

Everyone 18 years and older is welcome to apply — whether you have worked with animals before or not. The team will provide the guidance you need to make sure you feel confident and ready to help.

If you want to volunteer, simply fill out the volunteer application form. Applications must be turned in by Friday, April 18.
