Jerry Cordova Found Guilty of Two Counts of Criminal Sexual Penetration and Criminal Sexual Contact

Albuquerque, NM – This afternoon, a jury found Jerry Cordova guilty of two counts of criminal sexual penetration and one count of criminal sexual contact.

In the summer of 2019 an officer with the Albuquerque Police Department, in the sex crimes unit, was dispatched to an advocacy center where the officer took an initial report of illegal, inapropriate behavior by the victim’s uncle. The sexual assualt occurred when the victim had spent the night at her grandmother’s house. The victim is significantly younger than Cordova and was born with down syndrome.

“I want to thank the victim and her family for being stronger than anyone could have imagined throughout the criminal justice process, especially while testifying against her abuser,” said District Attorney Raúl Torrez. “Mr. Cordova could face many years in prison for violating and abusing his young disabled family member.”
