Jerry Lopez was found guilty of one count of robbery and one count of assault for his role in the August 2019 robbery of a Dollar General store off Coors Blvd. in southwest Albuquerque. During the trial, jurors heard evidence that Lopez pointed a gun at a cashier and demanded money from the register. Bernalillo County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene shortly after, finding Lopez walking down the street. He fled into a nearby home of a relative, where he was ultimately located and taken into custody.
“We’re grateful to have another criminal off the streets and appreciate the good work done by our partners at the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department” Gabriel Kallen, Assistant District Attorney said.
Kallen said the BCSO deputies prompt response was crucial in helping with the successful prosecution of this case.
Lopez faces up to four and a half years in prison.
