JURY FINDS THREE MEN GUILTY OF TORTURING AND KILLING TWO ALBUQUERQUE TEENS

Albuquerque, NM –  JURY FINDS THREE MEN GUILTY OF TORTURING AND KILLING TWO ALBUQUERQUE TEENS.

GUILTY

A jury has found three men guilty of torturing and killing two Albuquerque teens in 2018.

Stephen Goldman Jr., Julio Almentero, and Jimmie Atkins are all convicted of murder, kidnapping, armed robbery and tampering with evidence.

The victims, 15-year-old Collin Romero and 14-year-old Ahmed Lateef were found buried in Sandoval County in December, 2018.  Collin was shot 9 times, Ahmed was shot 19 times. Both teens had been beaten and tortured in Albuquerque’s West Mesa.

Each defendant was convicted of the following: Two counts of first degree murder-felony murder, two counts of kidnapping, one count of conspiracy to commit kidnapping, one count of armed robbery, one count of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, two counts of tampering with evidence and one count of conspiracy to commit tampering with evidence.  Each faces two life sentences, plus 19.5 years.

“I’m so damn proud of our prosecutors and all the work they did to bring a sense of justice to the victims’ families and this community,” said District Attorney Sam Bregman
