Patrick Romero Found Guilty of Voluntary Manslaughter and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon
Albuquerque, NM – This morning, a jury found Patrick Romero guilty of voluntary manslaughter with a firearm enhancement and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. This was a two-day jury trial.
In August of 2019, Romero and the victim, Anthony Moya, participated in an argument involving a female that they both knew. Romero concluded the argument by firing more than five rounds at the victim including two in the back which led to his death.
“This was a difficult case, but our office doesn’t back down from difficult cases that we believe we can prove,” said District Attorney Raùl Torrez. “We appreciate the jury and their final outcome as this conviction will result in almost a decade of prison for this defendant. Thank you to the family of Anthony Moya who was present during this important trial.”
