Paul Sandoval Found Guilty of Criminal Sexual Penetration of a Minor and Criminal Sexual Contact of a Minor

Albuquerque, NM – Today, a jury found Paul Sandoval guilty of all seven counts he was charged with: two counts of criminal sexual penetration of a minor, three counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor, one count of child abuse, and one count of selling or giving alcoholic beverages to a minor. The trial lasted nine days and the jury deliberated for only six hours before serving this guilty conviction.

The charges date back to 2014 where the teenage victim had to flee from a horrific sexual assault from two adult males. She endured the long pretrial process and had to testify for multiple days in trial. Sandoval could face more than 50 years in prison for this crime.

“The strength that the victim and her family showed throughout this case has been an inspiration to my office. The victim and her mother even participated in legislation that my office put forward a year ago to eliminate multiple pretrial interviews from the criminal justice system. Their cooperation and patience has paid off as Mr. Sandoval will have many years in prison to think about the brutality he exhibited,” said Bernalillo County District Attorney Raul Torrez.  “I am proud of my team for presenting a strong case and securing a guilty conviction in this two-week long trial.”
