Warren Rivera Found Guilty of Criminal Sexual Penetration and Attempted Criminal Sexual Penetration
Albuquerque, NM – Today a jury found Warren Rivera guilty of criminal sexual penetration, and attempted criminal sexual penetration. Rivera and the victim met on Facebook where he later met with her and proceeded to sexually assault her.
Rivera has a similar case with a separate victim that is pending trial in the spring of 2023. Rivera is facing potential mandatory time and is required to register as a lifelong sex offender. Judge Weaks did not choose to remand Rivera upon conviction despite the State’s request.
“We are pleased with today’s conviction and look forward to securing justice for the other victim Mr. Rivera has terrorized,” said District Attorney Raúl Torrez. “My team and I would like to thank the Rape Crisis Center for their partnership and support in this case and others like it. These community organizations are integral in providing victims of sexual assault vital assistance and resources in order to endure these traumatic events.”
